Support the arts and culture in Kenya
On Saturday 23 of September: art lovers, students, artists, and others will
gather at the Nairobi Java House on Koinange Lane to begin the first-ever
City Centre Gallery walk. The vision for the day is to visit interesting
arts and cultural institutions throughout the City Centre and to have a
guided tour by gallery administrators and the artists themselves.
The Gallery Walk and Tour plan:
- Begin the tour day Saturday September 23 begins promptly at 10am at the newest Nairobi Java House on Koinange Lane for a light breakfast and a look at the work of Jimnah Kimani.
- A visit to the GOETHE-INSTITUT to view artwork from artists in Kenya.
- Followed by a walk to the Alliance Française to view a photo exhibition entitled 'Image-in' the Millennium Development Goals a Mathare Youth Sports Association and UN-HABITAT collaboration showing photographs by the youth and for the youth on one of Africa's most deprived slums.
- We would then go to the Hazina exhibition of the National Gallery which presents both contemporary and traditional arts (a reduced entry fee of 100 -/ for Gallery Walk participants).
- Then on to the Gallery Watatu for a mix of contemporary African art.
- With the final gallery stop being AfricanColours' Chester House Gallery.
Reservations are required to participate as space is limited.
